You can only get about 10 k from XP alone if you get 3000 xp, plus 5-10 k in salary. My advice, play with your highest ranking soldier until you get a pilot, then use the pilot.
The rank one has is just a base quote, but the higher you have, the better all around when it comes to earning credits. Higher rank = more credits earned base + the bonus of what xp you have as well for a given match. Note though i am the rank of major, and in this game, for credits, xp and rank go hand in hand. + Do not mod your weapons much (1 mod is fine), because it is really really expensive to use them. Not sure that is for everyone, suggest extra stamina badge. Some people just equip a close combat weapon and hunt themself a weapon. + Pick up weapons from the ground, use them instead of yours.
